5th Graders from Edgewood Welcome Me!

I was so excited to be invited to Edgewood School in Woodridge Illinois to discuss Bully Prevention and Awareness!

This was my very first class I presented my new program to. I was so excited! ( and maybe a little nervous ). I started with a short video and asked the kids how they felt about it. I was pleasantly surprised by the eagerness to participate! I designed the presentation to be interactive, to make sure I kept their attention. I asked a lot of questions and they had some very smart answers. Some of them were even brave enough to share their own stories of when they felt left out, were picked on for one reason or another, or even when people said things that hurt their feelings. I want to take this opportunity to say "Thank You" to the students that trusted me enough to share! I had so much fun and can't wait to check in to see what you all are up to!! You are all amazing and smart kids!

My son is turning one this month! That sentence has yet to completely sink in. I have been watching him walk around our living room these past two weeks, but not like I usually do - not necessarily on alert to shoo him away from the occasional uncovered outlet, or kick him out the utility room to stop him from eating his occasional snack of cat food- but just watching him. Taking it all in. He has his own very busy agenda these days- and it's absolutely amazing to me. There is no way he will ever know the joy he brings to my life, or the powerful love I have for him- that is until he has his own child himself. He'll never know the happiness I feel when he stumbles up to me with his arms open to give me a hug, or when he aggressively gives me one of his open mouth kisses on my cheek. I could literally sit and watch him learn and play all day long. It's so beautiful to me. And please tell me I am not the only one that will sit in the car and let my child finish his nap?? O...

What it's like to be a "Mr."

One of the things I have learned thus far on my pageantry journey is yes, there is only one title holder but it's not all about you. It's about so much more... Something much bigger than yourself. It's about the cause you are raising awareness for, it's about the people you meet, it's about your sister queens and all of those that have come before you.  As a "Mrs." it's also about your husband. This journey would not be possible without him!   For this entry I decided to ask my husband to share some advice about what it's like to be my "Mr." Today was the first time I have read this ... And I have to say he's pretty funny- sort of ;-) ... Well, at least he thinks he is! Hope you enjoy! *** It’s a  Friday night.   You’re g etting ready to go out with your wife.  Guys, we’ve all been there; we know the routine.  She asks you to zip up  the back of  her dress.   Next, comes THE question:   “ Does this make me look fat?   Are y...
